Malapascua is a great place to learn to dive, you can see many wonderful things. Upon completion, you will be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet. After certification you will be able to do dives to see thresher sharks, the only place in the world where you can reliably see these wonderful creatures.  The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the most recognised and most popular in the world.

    • Marine park fees are payable on-site.

    Duration: variable as it is student-centered i.e. we go at your pace. Minimum duration is 2.5 -3 days. Most people will also want to add the shark dive(s) on the following morning. 
    Please bear in mind when making arrangements that you cannot fly for 18 hours after diving. 

    Languages: We have instructors who can teach in many languages, so if you have a preference please let us know. 

    E-learning Free Taster: This is a new option from PADI, most dive centers are not offering this. I can send you the first chapter of the e-learning for free if you like! I just need your name, preferred email and date of birth please. PADI requests date of birth as they will use this to match your record up with future certifications and online manuals.

    Do your studying in advance online

    PADI has developed an incredible e-learning platform for your Open Water Course. It's very well built and a really enjoyable learning experience. We strongly recommend getting the version with the video as it is inserted in snippets as you go along. It breaks up the reading, and really brings to life what you are reading. 

    And it's far superior to a physical manual in other ways: you can do it in advance, and so save valuable vacation time -- who wants to study at night on holiday?; you will have more time for other diving afterwards; you will not have to carry home a heavy manual; and of course it is environmentally friendly! 

    The course materials can be viewed online in any browser or downloaded on the PADI Training app (mobile only). There are two versions:

    • Version 1 - with videos - with videos in your chosen language. You will have lifetime access to the videos, making it easy to refresh your knowledge in the future. 
    • Version 2 - without videos - we will give you a separate link to the English videos or you can watch them here (2.5 hours)
    You also get free dive computer rental during your course - this is important to learn about for your safety underwater.

    Shark Dive/ Advanced Open Water Course

    If you wish to do the shark dive you can do so after the course with your instructor.

    You can book the full course from this page, or make a deposit only. As soon as we have payment, we can issue your online manual. 

    Deposit: If you prefer to make only a deposit now, or are not yet ready to commit to TSD, you can make a course deposit only. The deposit covers the cost of the PADI Manual, which you can then use at any PADI Dive Center around the world.
