Thresher Shark Dives 🤿

🦈 About our thresher sharks

Thresher Shark Malapascua

Ā

There has never been a better time to come for thresher sharks. Sightings have been amazing, the best in the 20+ years we have been here!

Thresher sharks were always seen at nearby Monad Shoal, but they disappeared almost overnight and moved to Kimud Shoal, a "sunken island" similar to Monad, but shallower and further away. They are 99% guaranteed, and almost always incredible sightings.

Kimud used to be known for hammerhead sharks, which are still occasionally seen. We also still dive Monad, it is full of life, with tiger sharks being the main draw now. We also see whitetip sharks and very occasional bull sharks. You also have the chance to see many other "bucket-list" fish like large rays, seahorses, frogfish and ghost pipefish.

Threshers used to be most common at dawn, but we are now getting sightings throughout the morning. So we usually offer double shark dives, and our new 3-shark-dive trips are proving very popular. We also sometimes offer 3-dive day trips starting with Monad followed by a double dive at Gato, our other most popular site, known for close encounters with whitetip reef sharks, and some amazing macro life. Find out more about our dive sites.Ā

We finalise the exact dive schedule a day in advance, so I cannot tell you for any particular day in the future what schedule will be diving. But due to its special nature, and given we don't want anyone to miss the threshers, we are now offering a unique offering, aĀ "Kimud Double Dive Guarantee" at no extra charge for anyone who only has one night on the island.

    FAQs

    • What if I cancel?

      • We finalise the schedule and boat spaces at 6pm the day before, so if you let us know by then, you can reschedule your dive at no extra charge. Otherwise, it will be payable in full.
    • What happens if sharks don’t show?

    • What about bad weather?
      • We lose very few diving days each year to the weather. In the event that the dive does not go out, we will reschedule at no extra charge.Ā
