Dive with Malapascua's famous thresher sharks!

Malapascua is known as the only place in the world where thresher sharks can be seen every day. And you are very lucky - there has never been a better time to come for thresher sharks 😊

Sightings have been amazing — the best we've seen since 2004.

The thresher sharks moved to Kimud Shoal from nearby Monad Shoal in 2022. Although it is an hour away, due to its special nature and given we don't want anyone to miss them, we now have a unique offering, a "Kimud Double Dive Guarantee" at no extra charge for anyone who has only one night on the island. So with TSD, you can be sure that we won't cancel the dive even if it's only you on the boat. 🦈🦈🦈

Threshers used to be most common at dawn. Since they moved to Kimud Shoal in 2022, we now get sightings throughout the morning, so we run double-dives as standard. Kimud is now the daily thresher site; Monad Shoal is no longer where the threshers congregate, but is still worth diving for tiger sharks and other large pelagics. The schedule varies day-to-day, and sometimes we have 3-dive trips or occasionally 1-dive trips. The dive usually leaves early, so normally you need to stay on Malapascua the night before, but special arrangements can usually be made if you book in advance and arrive on the first boat from the mainland. Find out more about thresher sharks and the schedule.

Includes:

  • Tank and weights
  • Boat and DM
  • Fuel surcharge for Kimud Shoal

Excludes:

  • Park fees - PHP 600 or 700, depending on the site, good for the day, payable on site
  • Nitrox (if required)
  • Equipment rental (if required)

You may also book this and use it for a dive at any other site.

Equipment rental and nitrox are additional and can be paid on-site or bought in advance.

Kimud Shoal is only 12m on the top of the shoal, but it is quite an advanced dive site, so for safety, Open Water divers need to do an Instructor-Led Dive or a Deep Adventure Dive; the Deep certifies you to dive to 30m in the future. You can also upgrade on arrival.

If you have not dived in a while, for your safety, you may be required to do a check dive or a refresher in advance. It would be the day before as the shark dive is an early morning departure.

Please email us with any questions and your date of arrival: dive@thresherdivers.com

We look forward to seeing you soon on Malapascua 😊
